Overview

The Highlands is a small, private community north of Spokane WA near the Wandermere area, close to Whitworth University, and next to the Fairwood Park development and the Kalispel Golf and Country Club.

In the early 1900s, the Spokane Country Club (SCC) began its plans for the private residential development of part of its land.  In 1955 the Club recorded a plat and covenants that finalized the layout of residential lots and streets as well as the rules governing the Club members-only homeowners.

The Highlands Homeowners Association of Spokane (HHA) was formed in 1960 and incorporated in 1980.  By mutual agreement the relationship with the Club changed over the years as the HHA took on more of the community responsibilities.

In 2012 the HHA continued to disassociate itself from the SCC with newly written by-laws and covenants.  After the sale of the Club, the HHA has been communicating with representatives of the Kalispel Tribe to work together as good neighbors for the mutual benefit of their members and our community.
